Everyone has been so complimentary and have commented on how relaxed you made them feel. We are extremely happy with all the decisions that we have made for our special day, but especially asking you to be our photographer, as we now have hundreds of beautiful photos to remember the emotions and beauty of the day.  We honestly cannot thank you enough and look forward to using your amazing talent for special occasions in the future.

Shane & Lauren married last week in the beautiful  14th Century barn at Calcot Manor near Tetbury in the Cotswolds.  Calcot Manor is a fantastic place for wedding photographs, and the 200 acres of grounds certainly provided plenty of scope for an amazing backdrop to Shane & Lauren’s wedding photographs.  It was nice to photograph at  Calcot Manor, and it was great to see a different part of the country again.  Once again we were blessed with unseasonably warm weather, and we had great fun being outside in the warmth in mid March.  The beautiful Cotswold stone, lovely light and a photogenic couple have all come together to create a fantastic wedding, and I look forward to meeting up with them again soon.

Calcot Manor

Dating back to the 14th century, Calcot Manor is more than a country house hotel set in over 220 acres of Cotswolds meadowland.

There are 35 individually designed rooms to choose from,and Calcot Spa offers fabulous facilities and classic treatments and The Barn with its meeting rooms, spacious courtyards and facilities is perfect for business events, weddings and entertaining.

The golden Cotswold stone of this charming manor – originally a farmhouse – creates an atmosphere of solidity and tranquillity. The outbuildings have been transformed to complement the main house. Calcot Spa, with its pool, sauna, steam room, gym and hot tub, offers a wide range of treatments. A medieval barn has been restored to create The Barn at Calcot, a self-contained venue for weddings and business meetings.

Many visitors are surprised to learn that Calcot Manor’s history spans over 700 years. Henry of Kingswood established the original building in around 1300AD as a tithe barn annex of Kingswood Abbey. When you stay, take a look at the original datestone in the tithe barn, which verifies the building’s founding during the reign of King Edward I.

In the 16th century, Henry VIII dissolved England’s monasteries and granted ownership of Calcot Manor to Nicholas Poyntz. In 1598, ownership passed to Sir Thomas Estcourt and there it remained in the family name until the early 19th century.

With a wealth of interesting places surrounding Calcot – the historic city of Bath, the ancient wool towns of the Cotswolds and the Cotswold Way footpath, the hotel is a perfect place from which to explore. Antique-hunting in nearby towns can absorb many enjoyable hours, as can walking or relaxing by the pool or a log fire.

Calcot Manor has operated as a hotel since 1984 and remains independently owned. When renovating and refurbishing the buildings, rooms and grounds, we’ve made sure every stone and beam stays true to the location’s original spirit.
